I am from New Plymouth and was raised on a 240 cow dairy farm. After finishing high school, I went straight to Massey and studied veterinary science. I started work for Totally Vets in Dec ’16 and am enjoying mixed animal practice. I enjoy working in particular with horses and also working dogs. In my spare time, you’ll find me riding my horse, hanging out on the farm with my partner or in the garden with a glass of wine nearby.

I graduated from Utrecht in the Netherlands in 1996 and came to New Zealand in late 1999, just before the start of the new millennium. After working for Alan Brown in Taumarunui for 4 years, I took over his clinic in 2004. The business grew steadily but owning a business wasn’t going to give me the lifestyle I wanted and I decided to sell to Totally Vets in 2013. Now I work part-time as a mixed practice veterinarian, which gives me plenty of time looking after all the animals on my 20-acre lifestyle block in the tiny rural village of Kakahi.

Production Animal Veterinarian and Consultant

I grew up in the Horowhenua on a small block with angora goats and horses.

My veterinary career began in Friendly Feilding at Manawatu Veterinary Services in 1998, and I have been a shareholder of what is now Totally Vets Ltd since 2006.

I have post-graduate qualifications in sheep production and medicine, with a special interest in farm systems, feed budgeting, breeding ewe management, parasitology and deer systems.

I have had extensive involvement facilitating industry extension programmes for both Beef + Lamb NZ and Deer Industry New Zealand. I also work in an advisory capacity with individual farmers and run applied research projects on commercial farms.

In my past lives, I have worked in farm animal practice in the Manawatu, North Taranaki, Hawkes Bay and Australia. I have now rolled to a stop on the Western Bays of Lake Taupo, where I am able to combine my work interests with a rural life for my kids while enjoying the opportunities offered by the great outdoors of the Ruapehu & Taupo districts.

I was born and raised South of Nelson, working on our family owned camping ground. After high school, I moved to Palmerston North and completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. A couple of weeks after finishing my final exams, I got married, and my husband and I moved up to Taumarunui where I started at Totally Vets in January 2016 as a mixed animal veterinarian. I enjoy the variety of mixed animal practice and especially enjoy working with dairy cows. I spend my downtime running, snowboarding, exploring the outdoors, collecting stray cats and 'supporting' my rugby player husband.
